Thursday, May 19, 2005. 19:30 "Ottawa Eats!"
150 Years of Eating in Ottawa
Join us for a smorgasbord of stories about eating in Ottawa over the past 150 years. Some are fanciful, some very real, some personal, some historical, some involve dining out, some eating in, but all of them offer entertaining insights into how eating and feeding people are fundamental to who we are and how our community has grown and changed over the years.
Tellers: Jennifer Cayley, Tara Hartley, Kim Kilpatrick, Tom Lips, Alan Shain, Ruth Stewart-Verger.
My part in all this was to sing a few original songs to bridge between stories. Three of the songs ("At The Chateau Tonight," "Hey Mom!" and " "International House Of Pancakes") were written especially for this evening, and all concerned food. It turned out to be a great evening. Afterwards we all went out and grabbed a bite to eat.
